Friday Feel Good Jams #10

October 3, 2008 | No Comments

Groove Is In The Heart.

The day after Thursday can only mean one thing, it’s time for another Friday Feel Good Jam. This week we feature “Groove Is In The Heart” by Dee Lite, one of the most infectious dance songs ever made. Fact.

Okay when you’re finished dancing, quickly finish the rest of your work, and join me out tonight.

Will we be hitting Assembly? Tiger Tiger? Maybe even Alba Lounge?

Otherwise there is the Rocking the Daisies festival this weekend too.

Whatever you do, have a good one.

Rick Astley Nominated For MTV Award

October 3, 2008 | 4 Comments

It Feels Like 1987 Again.

In one of those hilarious situations where organisers give way too much power to smartass fans, 80’s pop star and newly crowned ironic legend Rick Astley, has somehow been nominated for the MTV Europe Music Awards. Yes, I know it says Music Television Europe Music Awards, it’s redundant but that’s the official name. Ignore that though and focus on the meat of the story.

Rick Astley: Never gonna give, never gonna give, give you up.

Rick Astley: Never gonna give, never gonna give, give you up.

So anyhoo, Rick Astley has been nominated for the “Best Act Ever“, and will be competing with the likes of Britney Spears and U2.

Eighties pop singer Rick Astley has become the surprise contender for best act ever at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards in Liverpool.

The star, who has never been nominated in the history of the event, is up against U2, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Green Day and Tokio Hotel.
The winner, chosen by fans online, will be unveiled at the show on 6 November.
Astley returned to prominence this year when internet users were “tricked” into watching the video of his biggest hit.

A craze called “Rickrolling” saw web users unwittingly follow links to Astley’s videos. It led to millions of plays of Astley’s song Never Gonna Give You Up, which reached number one in the UK in 1987.

Rickrolling“. Gotta love it.

Anyhoo, it’s now up to us to REALLY make this an event worth remembering. GET VOTING for Rick and give him that award. Screw U2 and Bono, with his silly sunglasses and massive ego. Britney already won some awards at the American Video Music show thingy a few weeks back.

Rick needs this. Rick wants this. Give it to Rick. Click here to vote. And then vote again. And then get your friends and family to vote too.

Gphone - The G1 Cellphone By Google

October 3, 2008 | 1 Comment

Doesn’t Look Too Bad.

After previously mentioning the group orgy held recently at the launch of the Apple iPhone, I thought it necessary to mention the fact that Google is about to unleash their own little bit of geek porn to the masses, namely the G1 phone which runs on something called the “Android” operating system. (The operating system is basically what developers will use to make useless applications for the phone, similar to the various iPhone applications floating around.)

Anyhoo, this phone at least looks somewhat decent in comparison to Apple’s number, as the pics below clearly illustrates:

G1 - Sexy.

G1 - Sexy.

Gphone - We Might Have Sex With It.

Gphone - We Might Have Sex With It.

Maybe.

Maybe.

Again, as stated last time, not sure how much money I would be willing to fork out for this, probably not much. Having said that though, when one thinks of Google you tend to think of quality, and the downloading of free nudie pics (or is that just me?) so let’s sit back for a while and see how the whole cellphone war plays out.

Check out the G1 Phone’s official site here.
