I was blown away this morning, and not in a good way either.

See what I did there? I was being clever. I was talking about the wind but then I turned it into a sexual pun. Interestingly enough though - seeing as we’re in this vibe - since the start of Movember, The Girlfriend flat out REFUSES to kiss me. Refuses. Flat out. As soon as I come near - BAM. Pepper spray in the eyeballs. Not cool.

If you’re in Cape Town, you would no doubt have noticed how kak the wind has been. Apparently, this is what the locals call the “Cape Doctor”, so called because it blows all the pollution and other shit away from Cape Town and into Durban and Johannesburg instead. S’true, you can read more about it below:

“Cape Doctor” (usually The Cape Doctor) is the local name for the strong, persistent and dry south-easterly wind that blows on the South African coast in summer (around Christmas in this hemisphere). It is known as the Cape Doctor because it has long been held to clear Cape Town of pollution and ‘pestilance’.

Although the wind smites a wide area of the sub-continent, it is notorious especially in and around the Cape Peninsula, where it can be unpleasantly strong and irritating. The ‘Cape Doctor’ is to some extent an obsolescent term; many now simply call it the “South-Easter”. An ironic fact is that the meteorological records for Cape Town show that the north-west winds of winter can be far stronger and more destructive than the south-easter. [via Wikipedia]

I love that word, “pestilance”. Almost as much as I love the word “smite”. And “gargalesis”, which means forceful tickling. Anyway, I don’t have much more to say so… ja. You can go now.

Seriously, that’s it. Be on your way.
