Why Wasn’t This Ever On SABC?
Growing up in the 80′s, the type of television programming we had to put up with in South Africa was legendary for it’s diabolical nature. If it wasn’t patronising Afrikaans dross like Liewe Heksie (a manic depressive witch) or Miena Moo (a demented cow who wanted to shag a cat), then it was patronising English dross like Pumpkin Patch (about a loving couple called Freckles and Speckles) or the mysterious Zet (about a… erm… well… actually, exactly what was Zet anyway?).
In the meantime, the Japanese were busy making television shows like this one, check it out, although it’s best if you put on a nappy first, as you will most likely soil yourself at the sheer awesomeness of what you are about to see.
I KNOW! Japanese Spiderman!
He climbs walls, shoots grey bad guys with webbing, and has a cool futuristic bracelet which he seems pretty keen on showing off.
He even has a massive and in no way fake-looking robot he can call on when things get a bit hairy. It’s widely accepted that the show also has one of the greatest theme songs ever made. Fact.
Why did we never get to see this show? But we had to endure Die Swart Kat instead? A show about an effeminate boy who dresses up in dark tights and sneaks out at night?
Jesus, I used to dress up in black tights and sneak out at night, and I never got my own show.

haha i remember that lil shit. He had the phoofie slide from his bedroom window. batman rip-off or suming
What a crock of donkey poo
OMG, it’s Spiderman meets the Transformers. Trust the Japs to come up with that first.
Although, I would NOT have traded RABUBI for this or anything!
@Craig – Indeed, he was.
@Kerryn – RABUBI? Elaborate? What on earth is that?
OMG, you don’t remember when Spiderman was broadcast in Zulu, and his name was Rabubi (Rah-boo-bee)?
That was fricken awesome.
@Kerryn,
Actually… I kind of remember that… the theme tune was identical but there was a Zulu singer if memory serves?
